Cleo wasn't in the group that went to Soniere, but Pahn's face, and the absence in the returning party, tell her everything but the details.
Never talkative, Tir's entirely silent now, his eyes empty. No one wants to leave him, but he wants to be alone.
When she finally stops pacing outside Tir's quarters, she finds Pahn in the room they share, ignoring a bottle of sake. She never cries, but he does, and she holds him.
Only two members of the McDohl household were related, but they were a family. She wishes she'd said that to Gremio just once.
